BIOI was born in the Upstate of South Carolina. My birth place, home and journey of living in the South throughout most of my life has shaped my artwork into what it is today. Graduating from Anderson University with a degree in Painting/Drawing and Graphic Design in 2006, I began my journey as a professional artist. In 2011, my husband and I moved to Saint Louis, Missouri for his job. This led me to pursue Graduate school, obtaining my Master of Teaching in Art Education at Lindenwood University, which allows me to share my passion for art. Welcoming a daughter in 2016, I continue to practice and share my love of creating with her. As a wife, teacher, mother, transientAfter a few years of teaching I left the profession to become a mom and concentrate on producing artwork out of my home studio. Missouri has been a change of pace, a different type of scenery, and continues to influence my work due to historical landmarks particularly along Route 66. I look forward to capturing my ongoing journey for the world to experience and see.

STATEMENTMy artwork stems from my passion for history, color, composition and perspective. History is all around us and my artwork is highly influenced by my surroundings and its cultural roots. I begin my journey to creating my artwork through exploration of areas and objects through sketching and photography. This imagery is then manipulated to create interesting and unique compositions using intensified color and unusual perspective. My artwork features up-close and intimate likeliness to bring the viewer in to observe the unique details of the depicted place, person or object. My artwork is representative and classified by contemporary realism due to its manipulation of traditional painting methods.
